This pack contains a template, two missions and addons required to replicate the combat mission game mode of Medal of Honor.

For those not familiar with this game, combat mission is a multiplayer PVP game mode where the Coalition team attempts to clear several consecutive objectives to win (four in the provided template, five in the original game). OPFOR serves as the opposing force and must hold out for as long as possible.

Addons
======

The template mission itself requires only ZCombatMission.pbo, which is included in this release. This addon contains flashbang grenades, backpack and a basic combat shotgun.

The other two missions require substantially more content to play.

Helmand Valley requires:

ZCombatMission.pbo (included);
General Baron's editor update editorupdate102.pbo (included);
OFPD Afgan pack v1.2 taleb.pbo (ftp://ftp.ofpr.info/ofpd/unofaddons2/OFPDAfganPack12.rar);
CAT Afghanistan Island CATIntro.pbo (ftp://ftp.ofpr.info/ofpd/islands2/CAT_Afghanistan_Revisited_1.2SE.rar);
BAS Tonal Objects BAS_o.pbo (http://operationflashpoint.filefront.com/file/BAS_Tonal_Island;34857);

Shahikhot Mountains requires:

ZCombatMission.pbo (included);
General Baron's editor update editorupdate102.pbo (included);
OFPD Afgan pack v1.2 taleb.pbo (ftp://ftp.ofpr.info/ofpd/unofaddons2/OFPDAfganPack12.rar);
CAT Afghanistan Island CATIntro.pbo (ftp://ftp.ofpr.info/ofpd/islands2/CAT_Afghanistan_Revisited_1.2SE.rar);
NIMOD's dynamic weather, NIM_weather.pbo (ftp://ftp.ofpr.info/ofpd/unofaddons2/NIM_Dynamic_Weather.rar);

Objectives
==========

The central focus of gameplay in Combat Mission are objectives. These generally fall into two categories, securing an area and demolition. Secure objectives (represented on the map by a red circle) require the Coalition to clear the designated area of OPFOR fighters and occupy it for at least 30 seconds. Demolition objectives (represented on the map by a red crosshair) must be destroyed using a satchel charge (all players spawn with three satchel charges in their backpack). When the Coaltion completes an objective their front line will move forward along with the spawn bases and safe zone. OPFOR's spawn base and safe zone will move back towards the final objective.

Classes
=======

In combat mission you can choose one of three classes to play as. Each class requires a certain style of play, allowing you to fulfill necessary roles on the battlefield. You can select the weapons that each class uses, adjusting its strengths in your favor. The coalition forces and OPFOR utilise the same classes.

The rifleman is the basic fighter class. They tend to be frontline combatants, leading the charge toward OPFOR positions and being the backbone of the team. Rifleman generally use assault rifles and machine guns, with smoke grenades as an accessory.

Special Ops are close-quarters combat experts. They use submachine guns or shotguns and also carry a rocket launcher. Sneaking behind enemy lines and waiting in ambush are key strategies for Special Ops.

Snipers are best when taking up positions behind the main and taking out enemy from afar. While they carry explosives their primary function is long range crowd control.

Experience
==========

You gain experience for a chosen class by killing enemies. You will be rewarded with a new level for every ten kills you gain with a given class. Each class levels seperately to the other classes, so if you wish to gain access to new weapons or equipment for a class, you must play as that class and earn experience. The level of your class is independent of your faction. If you are a level 7 Rifleman when playing as OPFOR, you are a level 7 Rifleman when playing as Coalition. Your experience level will be loaded at the beginning of a mission and saved at the end of the mission, quiting a mission early forfeits any experience you earned during that session.

In addition to your standard loadout you will also have access to a backpack which is used to store extra ammo and equipment. To use an item held in the backpack you must transfer it to your inventory using the action menu, if insufficient space is available you will need to swap the required item with an item from your inventory. By default your backpack will contain three satchel charges. From level 2 onwards you will be given the option to carry a second weapon in addition to the one in your standard loadout. You will also be issued magazines for your second rifle equal in number to those available for your primary weapon (exact number depends upon your class and level).

For details of the equipment unlock trees for each faction and class, please consult Class Unlock Trees.doc.

Killstreak rewards
==================

In Combat Mission you are rewarded for acquiring a certain number of kills without dying. This is referred to as a killstreak.

3 kills = UAV support, deploys an unmanned aerial vehicle to scan the area. Once activated via the action menu the location of enemy players will be shown on the map for 30 seconds. All players on your team benefit from this reward.
5 kills = JDAM strike, activate this reward via the action menu then click on the map to call in a 2000lb GBU-31 on a target area.

7 kills = Cluster bomb strike, activate this reward via the action menu then click on the map to call in a CBU-87 on a targetted area.
Note that any kills inflicted by a killstreak reward do not contribute to your score, killstreak or experience.

Respawning
==========

When a player dies they are presented with a respawn dialog. As well as selecting class and equipment, the dialog allows the spawn location to be selected. Players on the coalition side are able to respawn alongside their fellow squad members by selecting their name from the drop down box. The camera will automatically show the location of the selected squad member to assist the player's decision of where they want to spawn. OPFOR players can only spawn at their base. As the mission progresses and objectives are accomplished base locations are moved appropriately. Each base is protected by a safe zone that cannot be entered by the enemy team. The enemy team's safe zone is shown on the map.

Combat mission also supports use of a vehicle by the Coalition forces, this will respawn at the Coalition base if it is destroyed or left abandoned by its crew. In some missions road blocks will need to be destroyed to allow the Coalition vehicle to proceed to the objective.

Combat Mission Template
=======================

See the seperate editor's guide for details on how to customise the template to make your own combat missions.

Two ready made missions are provided, each follows a loose narrative. The coalition's radio chatter narrative can be followed by both sides during the mission. This chatter can provide hints on enemy spawn locations and likely lines of advance to both sides during the mission.

Helmand Valley

Python 1 has been tasked to break through the northern part of Helmand province in search of intelligence and weapons caches. Several Anti-aircraft emplacements deny coalition aircraft freedom of movement, which complicates the situation. The experienced operators of Python 1 prepare, knowing that the area is infested with OPFOR fighters. As they start down along the wadi they detect rapid movement in the distant bushes.

The coalition must fight their way out of the valley, clearing out several OPFOR strongholds and bunker systems to clear the way for a coalition airstrike on an OPFOR fortress on the overlooking mountain.

Shahikhot Mountains
A Chinook helicopter has crashed somewhere in the Shahikhot mountains. These snow covered mountain peaks, called The Place of the King in Pashto, have been a rebel hiding place since ancient times. Python 1 is inserted to investigate and look for survivors in these eerie surroundings. As they disembark from their helicopter they hear the first crackling sound of a sniper rifle roll between the steep mountain sides.

A strong OPFOR presence in the area leaves the coalition forces stranded. They must fight their way up the mountains, past ammo caches and mortar batteries, to clear any hostile anti-aircraft emplacements to allow evacuation from the area.
